Some early LS1 engines used cylinder head casting number #853, and #941 which has a notch in the deck and requires a different head gasket set.
1997, 1998, and 1999 #853 and #941 Casting LS1 Kit includes everything you need to remove and replace your cylinder heads on your LS1 engine. There are some 853 casting numbers on 2000 vehicles, that may or may not have the notch. If it does not have the notch, you will need LS1HGK01. If you have any questions, please give us a call.
