Some of you are looking for the ultimate reaction and 60 foot
times on your drag race builds or your weekend comp Camaros. We
know where we can help most, and that is getting the right
suspension underneath your car. In response to all of the drag
racing inquiries we receive, we are releasing our dedicated Drag
Racing Coilovers for the Camaro5! Designed from the ground up as a
no compromise straight line solution, the Pfadt Drag Coilover
Package features custom spring rates to reduce wheel hop on launch
and hard shifts, and to maximize weight transfer at launch.
After hundreds of hard drag launches during testing, spring
rates and damper lengths were chosen to allow for extra front end
lift and rear end squat. The softer front and rear spring rates we
selected allows the front end to fully extend, transfer weight
quickly to the rear end, and have the rear stay planted. This
weight transfer is key to straight line traction by shifting the
weight from the front end back to the rear wheels.
As with our Street Coilover kits, static ride height is fully
adjustable from about stock ride height to 1.5inches lower than
stock. The dampers have 20 individual damping adjustment positions
for fine tuning the car while launching. The installation of these
coilovers requires no cutting or modification of any kind to
install on the vehicle; set the ride height and have fun!
This is a competition level drag race package, and isn't for
everyone. Because drag racing poses unique challenges to suspension
design that don't necessarily translate well to superior cornering
ability, handling will be very different from what you have come to
expect from our Street Coilover packages. With the dampers adjusted
to full stiff your car will be very capable on the street, but over
all a bit softer than stock.

with black springs and our drag coilovers with completley revised
red springs
These coilovers are custom built to order and currently we have
batches built in house on a consistant basis. Once we sell them, we
will continue to take pre-orders for our next small batch, and the
wait is worth it. We feel that when used in conjunction with other
rear suspension components to mitigate wheel hop, such as solid
subframe mounts, differential bushings, trailing arms and good
tires, this is the best suspension for the serious drag racer.
Compromises aside, it will all be worth it the next time you line
up next to that Mustang and are able to finally put your full power
down to the ground!
In addition to all of the drag-specific development and
features, these coilovers carry all of the standard features and
materials found in our Street/Road Race coilovers. Features like
inverted design for lower unsprung weight, monotube shock design
for consistent damping values, lightweight material and design,
easily accessed adjustable damping, available custom spring rates,
and reliable, durable, and quiet mounts top and bottom. Pictures
below to illustrate all of the similar characteristics between the
standard coilovers and the drag coilovers.
